Bill Forsyth

Bill Forsyth started working with film in 1964.
He was an inaugural student of the National Film School in 1971.
In 1979 he wrote, produced and directed the first indigenous Scottish feature film titled That Sinking Feeling. He wrote and directed many other films including Gregory’s Girl (BAFTA for best screenplay in 1982), Local Hero (BAFTA for best direction in 1983) and Housekeeping.
He has enjoyed periods of teaching scriptwriting and editing in Cuba and Australia. Now he is very happy to read a lot and to continue to write scripts. Making films is too hard.
