Another script participated in ScripTeast is now being produced!
Another script participated in ScripTeast and awarded with Krzysztof Kieślowski Award during festival in Cannes is now being produced. “False Witness” written and directed by Iglika Triffonova from Bulgaria took part in 5th ScrtipTeast edition.
“False Witness” was developed during a year-long training program for experienced scriptwriters from Central and Eastern Europe. The project was supported by Peter Medak (director of Golden Palm nominated “The Ruling Class” and “The Changeling”, “The Krays”) Donato Rotunno (Luxembourgian producer and director responsible for “In a Dark Place”) and Tom Abrams (screenwriter and film director, author of the screenplay for the Oscar-nominated film,S”Shoeshine”, associate professor of script and production department at School of Cinematic Arts, UCS) as Head of Studies. In 2011 during Cannes International Film Festival “False Witness” was presented Krzysztof Kieślowski ScripTeast Award for the best script, developed during ScripTeast workshop program.
The crew is shooting now in Bosnia and Holland, second part of shooting is planned for Sweden for 2014. Cast include: Krassimir Dokov (Bulgarian actor, main character in “Razsledvane” directed by Iglika Triffonova), Samuel Fröler (Swedish actor known from Billy August’s “Den goda viljan” based on script by Ingmar Bergman), Romana Bohringer (French actress, who played in Agnieszka Holland’s “Total Eclipse”) and Labina Mitevska (actress from Macedonia; played in Oscar-nominated “Before the Rain” directed by Milcho Manchevski). The director and script author, Iglika Triffonova, done earlier, among others, “Letter to America” and “The Investigation” based on true story and awarded during festivals in Sofia, Cottbus and Warsaw.
Producer Rossitsa Valkanova (KLAS Film) who has been working with Iglika Triffonova on her previous films informed us that release date of “False Witness” is planned for 2015. The project is a Bulgarian-Swedish-Dutch-German-Macedonian coproduction and is supported by The Bulgarian National Film Center, Bulgarian National Television, The Swedish Film Institute, Film i Skäne, SVT and The Dutch Film Fund.
ScripTeast is a training program for the best screenwriters from Eastern and Central Europe. The aim is to help the screenwriters strengthen their scripts, make it interesting for wide international audience, it is meant to enhance the best written scripts’ competitiveness. ScripTeast is organized by the Independent Film Foundation and supported by Media Program of EU, Polish Film Institute, National Centre for Culture and Apple Film Production, in cooperation with the European Film Academy, the ACE Program, Producers Network, Film New Europe and Final Draft.
