THE MUTE – the highest grant for a feature film on 3rd Session, October 2014

946 085 EUR was granted by the Polish Film Institute on 3rd Session, October 2014 to project THE MUTE by Bartek Konopka and Przemek Nowakowski developed during 7th edition of ScripTeast with support of Creative Advisers: Trygve Allister Diesen (director and writer/creator of feature films and television drama, working in Scandinavia and the US), Neasa Hardiman (director and writer based in Dublin, BAFTA winner) and Christian Routh as a Head of Studies.

THE MUTE was awarded Krzysztof Kieslowski ScripTeast Award 2013 during Cannes Film Festival 2013. The Advisory Board of ScrpTeast stated: The Award goes to a strikingly original screenplay that confronts themes of spirituality, loyalty, and family dynamics in an ancient setting, while relating an exotic and thought-provoking personal conflict set against the clash between early Christianity and paganism. The Advisory Board is confident that the strong dramatic potential of this engrossing screenplay will result in an excellent quality film with international audience.“

THE MUTE is set in the early Middle Ages, and recounts the conflict between two men as they struggle to convert a remote Pagan community.
