„This is a charming story that handles a seemingly difficult subject; how children react to death; with great sensitivity, and a vivid visual imagination. The script presents a bold and unusual family film that is rooted in a central European culture, but has the potential to entertain and enlighten a widespread international audience with its thoughtful approach and delightful characters.”

“The Day of Chocolate” tells the story of the friendship of David and Monica. Their friendship begins with the girl moving to the house next door to the boy. David is initially reluctant to play with Monica, but as the time goes by, he is fond of rampant Monica. She takes him into a world of magic and her ideas. Her biggest dream is to meet with her late grandmother, who in her imagination lives in Hawaii and is a hula dancer. Their friendship allows David to pull himself together after losing his sister Susan, who comes back as a cat. The friends help each other to cope with life’s worries. They enter the world of the old clock where Mondays Eater, Time Jumper, The Witch and the waiter are serving chocolate live. They learn about the mysterious world of magic and fantastical creatures living in it.
