Peter Medak
Peter Medak was born in Budapest, Hungary, and fled to England during the 1956 uprising. He entered the film industry as a trainee in 1957 with ABPC Elstree Studios in England, working his way through the cutting rooms, sound and camera departments to become a first assistant director and associate producer. In 1963, Medak was signed by Universal Studios where he began directing television films.
In 1967, Paramount Pictures signed him to direct his first feature film “Negatives”, staring Glenda Jackson. Other feature credits include: “A Day in the Death of Joe Egg”, “The Ruling Class”, “Ghost In a Noonday’s Sun”, “Zorro the Gay Blade”, “The Changeling”, “The Men’s Club”, “The Kray’s”, “Let Him Have it”, “Romeo is Bleeding”, “Pontiac Moon” and “Species II”.
Medaks television credits include: “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”, “The Feast of all Saints”, “David Copperfield” for TNT, Agatha Christie “Murder mystery Pricking of my Thumbs for Granada” (UK) and episodes of: “Homicide Life on the Streets”, “Carnival”, “The Wire”, Law & Order: Special Victims unit: “The Washingtonians” – “Masters of Horror”, “Sex and Lies in Sin City: The Ted Binion Scandal”, “Breaking Bad”, “Cold Case” and many others.
He has also directed many stage plays and operas including: “Salome”, “La Voix Humaine”, and “Songs and letters of Schubert”, all starring Julia Migenes. He also created the Filmed Imagery for “Dark Side of the Moon World” tour all the footage projected on the Massive circular screen that was the backdrop to the tour. He also directed Music Videos for Roger Waters and Peter Gabriel. He is currently developing several film projects, including “Inamorata” for John Depp’s Company Infinitum Nihil, “Villa Golitsyn”, and “Fallen Moon”.
