    WASHED AND BURIED

Nadia is a successful lawyer from Udine in Italy. Until her father passed away, she lived between the mines and mountains separating Italy from Slovenia. She belongs to the Slovenian minority in Italy, but has been repressing her ethnic identity for years, mostly due to resentment against her deceased father – a miner, beloved union rights activist and conscious representative of the Slovenian minority.

When her mother Lucia informs her that her paternal grandmother has just passed away, she returns to the places of her childhood to help her mother with the funeral.

Arriving to the town of her birth, Nadia begins noticing Lucia has been keeping secrets.

Nadia’s exploration of Lucia’s hidden purpose leads her through the spaces of her childhood, and the meetings with people who each reveal some small piece of the family map, a re-examination of her own relations with intimate roots.
