Manfred Schmidt

Manfred Schmidt was born 1951 in Berlin.

From 1969 to 1981 he worked at Theater “Maxim-Gorki” in Berlin. For the next six years (1982-1988) he was a free-lance author and screenwriter.

He studied at Institute for Literature in Leipzig (1984-87), and later, in 1988 he became a script analyst and author at Defa Studios for documentary films. From 1990 till 1992 he was the deputy chief script doctor at Defa Studios for documentary films. Then, in 1992 he became the deputy program director culture/science at MDR Television.

Since December 1998 he has been working as the Executive Director of the Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung GmbH.
