Joëlle Levie has been active in the cultural sector since the 1970’s. Her introduction to cinéma came through her father work as a film producer. In 1986, she began to work in the development and sales of animated films. In 1988, she moved to Montreal and began work at the Société Générale des Industries Culturelles. Six months later she was promoted to Assistant Director of Business Affairs, and eventually became the Head of Business Affairs.
In 1992, Telefilm Canada appointed her as the Director of Business Affairs and then promoted her to Head of the Television Unit at the Quebec Office. In 1997, after one year with Behaviour Entertainment as Vice-President of Business Affairs with Henri Desclez, she rejoined Telefilm Canada as Director of Operations for Quebec. From November 2001 to December 2007, Levie was the General Director for Cinema and Television at the Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (SODEC) where she was able to truly realize her passion and vision of Quebec Cinema, and its role in International co-productions.
In March 2008 she continued her work in finance and production through becoming the Head of Operations for Tax Shelters (Feature Films) at Tax Shelter sprl, an affiliate of the bank ING Belgium.
