Jean-Luc ORMIERES shares his time between his production activities, his activities in the VoD portal of the French independent cinema Universcine.com, and his screen-writing activities.
He has produced over forty feature films as of today. His first feature, Rue Cases Nègres (Sugarcane Alley), by Euzhan PALCY won a Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival, and went on to be honoured with the French Cesar for Best First Feature Film. He has been often represented in international festivals where his films were awarded several prizes. He dedicated a substantial part of his activities to first timers in France.
In the recent years, he was associate producer for The Last Station, starring Helen Mirren, Christopher Plummer, James Mac Avoy and Paul Giamatti, by US director Michael HOFFMANN. He was also attached as associate producer on Sophie Schoukens’s first feature Marieke, Marieke (Official Competition San Sebastian 2010) His last productions include White, White World, by Serbian director Oleg NOVKOVIC, which he exec produced (Best Actress, LOCARNO 2010, Best Film COTTBUS 2010), Hideaways, the new feature film by Agnès MERLET (a FIDELITE/OCTAGON/FILMGATE coproduction, a WILD BUNCH sales), and the feature documentary Would You Have Sex With An Arab?, by Yolande ZAUBERMAN, that premiered at Venice 2011, Orizzonti.
