Gianluca Leoncini

Born in Florence, Gianluca has a degree in Sociology of Literature from the Università La Sapienza di Roma with a specialization in creative writing. Since 2002, he has been working in film production as a story editor in the development team of the company Cattleya. Founded in 1997, Cattleya is Italy’s leading independent production company, having produced over sixty feature films and television series, won numerous awards and been nominated for many more. After following the production of many films (a selection of the most notable includes: Don’t tell, nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 2006 Academy Awards; Crime Novel; Our Life, starring Elio Germano, who won the Best Actor Award at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival; Siberian Education, directed by Oscar winner Gabriele Salvatores and starring John Malkovich), in the last few years Gianluca has been working as part of Cattleya’s creative production team on some of the highest quality television programming like Romanzo Criminale – The TV series (which aired on Sky Italia and was sold all over the world) and Gomorrah – The TV series (already sold in more than 50 countries and now on air in the UK on Sky Atlantic) both directed by Stefano Sollima. Gianluca is currently working on the development of Gomorrah’s second season and on the feature film Suburra, an ambitious production to be directed by Stefano Sollima.
