She is a film and television writer and director with wide experience in both fields. Her awards include a Goya Award for Best Original Screenplay in 1997 for La Buena Estrella and another Goya Award to the Best New Direc-tor in 2003 for La suerte dormida. Among her feature film credits as screenwriter there are Lágrimas negras(Black tears) by Ricardo Franco, Segunda Piel (Second skin) directed by Gerardo Vera, Las razones de mis amigos (Friends have reasons) directed by Gerardo Her-rero, Antigua vida mía (Antigua my life), a Spain-Argen-tina coproduction directed by Héctor Olivera and many other films. Besides films, she writes intensely for television. Her most recent works are series such as Amar es para siempre (Antena 3), Mercado Central (RTVE), Hache (Netflix), Miguel Bosé la Biografía (Viacom). She has also penned plays for the stage, novels as well as chil-dren’s books. She has teaching experience in screenwriting in schools such as ECAM in Madrid, Taller de Guionistas in Barce-lona, the International Film School of San Antonio de Los Baños in Cuba, among others. From April 2009 until December 2011 she interrupted her film career to serve as Minister of Culture of Spain. Previous to that, she was President of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences of Spain (2006-2009), President of ALMA, the screenwriters’ association of Spain and founding member of DAMA, a collecting so-ciety for filmmakers where she is now a member of the board.
