Alexandra Rossi is one of Europe’s most experienced Development and Acquisitions executives with more than 15 years in the business. She has worked at New Line / Fine Line for over 10 years and more recently at Paramount Pictures.
Prior to New Line she headed up acquisitions and marketing for RCS Rizzoli, one of Italy’s major distributors at the time. Her responsibilities at New Line have included acquiring European and Latin American films and developing relationships with filmmakers in the U.K., continental Europe and Latin America.
Alexandra has established sound business relationships with several key International talent including Guillermo Del Toro, Juan Antonio Bayona and Alain Goldman. Through these relationships, she has been instrumental in the acquisition of films such as LA VIE EN ROSE, PAN’S LABYRINTH and THE ORPHANAGE for Picturehouse and also the remake of THE ORPHANAGE at New Line. During her tenure at Fine Line, then at New Line and Picturehouse, Alexandra has also helped bring into the company and champion Mike Leigh’s Golden Lion winner, VERA DRAKE and Alejandro Amenabar’s Academy Award winner, THE SEA INSIDE, and previously shepherded such films as Lars von Trier’s Palme d’Or-winner DANCER IN THE DARK.
In her role at Paramount, Alexandra was overseeing Acquisitions and Production in Europe and worked on 3 local productions in Germany, RUSSIAN DISCO (Oliver Ziegenblag), OFFROAD (Elmar Fischer) and HELL (Tim Fehlbaum) as well as SHADOW DANCER (James Marsh) for the UK and EVA (Kike Maillo) for Spain. In addition to these latest projects, Alexandra was instrumental in bringing DAGENHAM GIRLS (Nigel Cole) to Paramount UK, which was released last October. As well as her co-production and acquisition work, Alexandra also played a crucial role for the production and development team in the US, as their lookout for emerging continental talent and regularly met with upcoming writers/directors as well as the top European literary agents and producers.
Alexandra is now working on EVA by Kike Maillo as an Associate Producer.
