A child made to order
When a women’s fertility rights campaigner, Marianne Stine, mysteriously disappears, it hardly reaches the news. Only investigative journalist Viola Voss, shows any interest in finding out what happened to the young woman.
Years later Voss is once again reminded of Marianne’s disappearance. Voss is presented with a tantalising clue that not only is Marianne alive, but she has a healthy young child. Voss’s fascination with Marianne is because they share the same rare genetic condition that would be passed on to their children – mitodisease. Haunted by having lost a child, Voss jeopardizes her own career, in order to find Marianne, and an explanation. This search will force her to confront her own demons and deal with her loss.
